Al-Mulk 67:23

The Sovereignty · Meccan · Juz 29 · Page 563

Hearing, Sight, Hearts

Say (unto them, O Muhammad): He it is who gave you being, and hath assigned unto you ears and eyes and hearts. Small thanks give ye.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

Say: It is He who created you and gave you hearing, sight and hearts. How little you give thanks!

Insight

According to Elmalılı, ears were given to hear, eyes to see and hearts to understand. Their creator is neither parents nor state nor anything else, but Allah alone. Thanking Him for them means using them for their purpose.

Reflect

Today, use your hearing, your sight and your heart for something good.
