Gog and Magog
They said: O Dhu’l-Qarneyn! Lo! Gog and Magog are spoiling the land. So may we pay thee tribute on condition that thou set a barrier between us and them.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
“O Dhul-Qarnayn! Gog and Magog are causing corruption in the land; will you make a barrier between us?”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, they destroyed everything before them, and if left alone would corrupt the whole earth. Their names came into Arabic from another language.
Reflect
Build a “barrier” against the corruption in your life.
