We Touched the Sky
وَأَنَّا لَمَسۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدۡنَٰهَا مُلِئَتۡ حَرَسࣰا شَدِيدࣰا وَشُهُبࣰا ٨
And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur’an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
“We sought the heaven and found it filled with strong guards and flames.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, “lams” originally means touching, feeling with the hand; here it is a figure for searching and probing.

Instead of probing the unseen, trust what Allah has revealed.
