Brotherhood
The believers are naught else than brothers. Therefore make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to Allah that haply ye may obtain mercy.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
The believers are but brothers. So make peace between your brothers and be mindful of Allah, so that you may receive mercy.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, this brotherhood comes from uniting on the basis of faith, which leads to eternal life. When two people or two groups fall out, setting things right at once is a duty of this brotherhood. Avoiding reconciliation, and avoiding reconciling others, is contrary to God-consciousness.
Reflect
Is there a small step you can take to reconcile two people who have fallen out?
