Had It Come Down on a Mountain
If We had caused this Qur’an to descend upon a mountain, thou (O Muhammad) verily hadst seen it humbled, rent asunder by the fear of Allah. Such similitudes coin We for mankind that haply they may reflect.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Had We sent down this Qur’an on a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and split apart in awe of Allah.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, even that hard mountain would be so moved by the Qur’an; this Qur’an, sent down to be read with faith and acted upon, should move hearts likewise.
Reflect
Read a verse today and let it move your heart as it would a mountain.
