Bounty Is in Allah’s Hand

That the People of the Scripture may know that they control naught of the bounty of Allah, but that the bounty is in Allah’s hand to give to whom He will. And Allah is of Infinite Bounty.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

Bounty is in Allah’s hand; He gives it to whom He wills.

Insight

Elmalılı relates that al-Wahidi found this verse difficult; most commentators take the “la” as redundant: let the People of the Book know that bounty is in Allah’s hand.

Reflect

Don’t think Allah’s grace belongs to any one group.
