The Right Path

The path of those whom Thou hast favoured; Not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

The path asked for is the path of those Allah has blessed, not the path of those who earn His anger or of those who go astray.

Insight

Elmalılı says the anger attributed to Allah is not the opposite of mercy: anger towards the oppressor is mercy for the oppressed. Not every pain is a punishment either; some pains herald blessings to come, for every matter is judged by its outcome.

Reflect

Try seeing a difficulty you are going through as the possible beginning of a blessing.
