Guidance
ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ ٦
Show us the straight path.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Guide us on the straight path. This prayer is the most important form of the help asked for in the previous verse.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, hidayah is gentle and subtle guidance towards good. So simply ‘show’ or ‘lead’ does not fully capture it; the best is to say, as people know it, ‘grant us guidance’.
Reflect
In which decision of your life do you most need to look for the right path?
