Witness, Bearer of Good News, Warner
إِنَّآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ شَٰهِدࣰا وَمُبَشِّرࣰا وَنَذِيرࣰا ٨
Lo! We have sent thee (O Muhammad) as a witness and a bearer of good tidings and a warner.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Indeed, We have sent you as a witness, bringer of good news and warner.
Insight
Elmalılı relates from ar-Razi: commentators explained it as witness to the community’s deeds; but more fitting is witness to Allah’s oneness.
