The Truthful and the Liars
وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۖ فَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَلَيَعۡلَمَنَّ ٱلۡكَٰذِبِينَ ٣
Lo! We tested those who were before you. Thus Allah knoweth those who are sincere, and knoweth those who feign.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
We certainly tested those before them; Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful and the liars.

According to Elmalılı, this may have been revealed about Mihja‘, the first martyr at Badr, whose parents and wife grieved greatly.
