A Sign Left Behind
وَتَرَكۡنَا فِيهَآ ءَايَةࣰ لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ ٣٧
And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, where those towns sank a mark remains, one of the signs on earth; according to Ibn Jarir, great stones piled up.
