When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me).

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

They said “Peace”, and he said “Peace”.

Insight

According to Elmalılı, Abraham’s greeting, in a form expressing permanence, is stronger than theirs; an example of returning a greeting with a better one.

Reflect

Return a greeting today with a better one.
