The Wives of Noah and Lot
Allah citeth an example for those who disbelieve: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot, who were under two of Our righteous slaves yet betrayed them so that they (the husbands) availed them naught against Allah and it was said (unto them): Enter the Fire along with those who enter.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Allah presents an example of those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, giving an example is presenting a strange case to illustrate another like it: even righteous husbands could not save them from Allah.
Reflect
Don’t rely on another’s righteousness for your salvation; work with your own deeds.
