Who Created?

Is not He (best) Who created the heavens and the earth, and sendeth down for you water from the sky wherewith We cause to spring forth joyous orchards, whose trees it never hath been yours to cause to grow. Is there any Allah beside Allah? Nay, but they are folk who ascribe equals (unto Him).

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

Is He who created the heavens and earth and sent water from the sky, bringing forth gardens, better?

Insight

Elmalılı explains the two kinds of the particle “am”; here the question is a rebuke comparing Allah with partners.

Reflect

Look at a garden and think of its Creator.
