An Empty Heart
وَأَصۡبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَٰرِغًاۖ إِن كَادَتۡ لَتُبۡدِي بِهِۦ لَوۡلَآ أَن رَّبَطۡنَا عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ١٠
And the heart of the mother of Moses became void, and she would have betrayed him if We had not fortified her heart, that she might be of the believers.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
The heart of Moses’ mother became empty; she was about to disclose it had We not strengthened her heart.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, this is a state where, hearing no news of her son, nothing enters her heart from bewilderment and dread, and her mind is blank.
