Light Scales
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ٨
But as for him whose scales are light.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
But one whose scales are light, his refuge will be the abyss.
Insight
Elmalılı gives several meanings to “his mother is the abyss”: the “mother’s lap” he shelters in is a pit; or he will fall so that his mother will weep. He will have no shelter left.
Reflect
Today, drop one wrong and put a good deed in its place.
