The Day the Shin Is Bared

On the day when it befalleth in earnest, and they are ordered to prostrate themselves but are not able.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are called to prostrate, but they will not be able.

Insight

Elmalılı explains “saq” as the shin, from heel to calf; it also means the trunk or root of a thing. Here it conveys the severity of the matter.

Reflect

Give thanks that you can prostrate easily today, and prostrate.
