Speak of Righteousness
O ye who believe! When ye conspire together, conspire not together for crime and wrongdoing and disobedience toward the messenger, but conspire together for righteousness and piety, and keep your duty toward Allah, unto whom ye will be gathered.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
When you converse privately, do not converse about sin, but about righteousness and piety.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, believers are not forbidden private conversation absolutely; only talk of sin, aggression and disobedience to the Prophet is forbidden.
