Magic Handed Down
فَقَالَ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرࣱ يُؤۡثَرُ ٢٤
And said: This is naught else than magic from of old.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And said: “This is nothing but magic handed down.”

Elmalılı gives “ma’thur” two meanings: magic taught and passed on from of old, or magic that captivates and wins people over.
