We Bound Their Hearts
And We made firm their hearts when they stood forth and said: Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We cry unto no Allah beside Him, for then should we utter an enormity.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
And We strengthened their hearts when they stood up and said: “Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, this was the core of these young men’s cause: standing up against the idolaters and proclaiming the oneness of God. And Allah gave their hearts firmness.
