We Sealed Their Ears

فَضَرَبۡنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاذَانِهِمۡ فِي ٱلۡكَهۡفِ سِنِينَ عَدَدࣰا ۝١١

Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years.

Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall

Meaning

So We cast a cover over their ears in the cave for a number of years.

Elmalılı explains “We struck upon their ears” as “We laid them down and put them to sleep.”

Tonight as you sleep, remember that it is Allah who wakes you.
