They Fear You More Than Allah
لَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ رَهۡبَةࣰ فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ لَّا يَفۡقَهُونَ ١٣
Ye are more awful as a fear in their bosoms than Allah. That is because they are a folk who understand not.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
You are more fearful in their hearts than Allah.
Insight
According to Elmalılı, they do not fear Allah, who knows the hidden and the open, yet they fear people; for they are a people who do not understand.
