Signs Are with Allah
وَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتࣱ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۚ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا ٱلۡأٓيَٰتُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ نَذِيرࣱ مُّبِينٌ ٥٠
And they say: Why are not portents sent down upon him from his Lord? Say: Portents are with Allah only, and I am but a plain warner.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
They say: “Why are signs not sent down to him?” Say: “Signs are only with Allah.”
Insight
According to Elmalılı, those who rejected the truth denied that the Qur’an is a miracle and demanded other miracles, like Moses’ staff.
