A Clinging Clot
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ ٢
Createth man from a clot.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
He created man from a clinging clot.
Insight
Elmalılı says the root meaning of “‘alaq” is to cling and attach: the first cluster that clings to the womb. Such is the small, weak beginning of man.
Reflect
Think about how you came from such a small beginning to this day.
