The Morning Light
وَٱلضُّحَىٰ ١
By the morning hours.
Translation: Marmaduke Pickthall
Meaning
Allah swears by the forenoon: the hour when the sun shines and begins to rise.
Insight
Elmalılı describes the forenoon as ‘the youth of the day’. According to some commentators it alludes to the time when the sun of truth, prophethood, began to shine upon the world.
